Rabbi Moshe Hauer didn't just build bridges; he was a bridge, connecting American and Israeli Jews personally and communally. On a personal level, he practiced the profound act of truly listening. This was especially noticeable in his meetings with Knesset members, October 7 bereaved families, and evacuated OU Israel team members. Unlike leaders eager to jump in and share their own points, Rabbi Hauer taught his followers to sit quietly and listen first. He treated everyone with respect and deep humility.

Communally, Rabbi Hauer testified before the U.S. House of Representatives against campus antisemitism and met with Israeli leaders to heal societal divisions. Under his leadership, the OU tripled its presence in Israel to help American families thrive after making aliyah. He also sent rabbis on cross-cultural missions between the U.S. and Israel to foster collaboration.

The lessons Rabbi Hauer quietly modeled stay with us today: to work toward sanctifying G-d's name, and to love every single Jew, no matter what they wear or look like.
